Master Painters 5-Year Workmanship Guarantee

As a member of Master Painters New Zealand, Paint It can provide eligible residential repaint work with the added protection of the Master Painters 5-Year Workmanship Guarantee.

For qualifying owner-occupied residential repaint work, the guarantee provides cover for defects in workmanship for up to five years from Practical Completion, subject to the Master Painters Guarantee Terms and Conditions.

What does the Guarantee Provide?

The Guarantee provides additional peace of mind by offering protection for eligible workmanship defects.

Importantly, if Paint It is no longer trading, Master Painters Services may arrange for covered workmanship defects to be remedied in accordance with the Guarantee Terms and Conditions. The maximum cover is the lesser of:

• $15,000 including GST, or
• the Contract Price.

When does the Guarantee apply?

For eligible owner-occupied repaint work, acceptance of the Guarantee is automatic provided the work qualifies under the Guarantee and Paint It has been paid in full.

The Guarantee takes effect from the date of Practical Completion and continues for up to five years.

Important conditions and exclusions

Like any guarantee, there are conditions and exclusions. Among other things:

• The work must meet the eligibility requirements of the Master Painters Guarantee.
• Approved paint products must be used.
• Paint It must be paid in full for the work.
• Normal wear and tear, substrate issues, damage outside the painter’s control and certain products, surfaces and applications are excluded.
• Some coatings and applications have different or limited cover.
• Exterior painted surfaces must be regularly cleaned and maintained.
• If a workmanship issue arises, the homeowner should contact Paint It first and follow the claim notification requirements in the Guarantee Terms and Conditions.
• Remedial work should not be undertaken by another contractor without prior approval from Master Painters Services where a claim is being made.

The Master Painters Guarantee is in addition to, and does not replace, your rights under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993.
